The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) is a educational and scientific association aiming to improve patient care through the support of teaching, science, research and clinical practice in the field of cardiovascular and interventional radiology.

IRSA members automatically gain affiliate CIRSE member benefits with their membership of IRSA. These include:

  • Being part of an international network of over 8,000 professionals
  • Reduced registration fees for CIRSE events and the CIRSE Academy
  • Subscription to the online version of CVIR and CVIR Endovascular – the official organs of CIRSE, including discounts for APC’s if available
  • Subscription to the CIRSE Library, IR’s top online educational resource featuring more than 8,000 titles
  • Subscription to IR News
  • Eligibility to EBIR examination – the European Board of Interventional Radiology
  • Access to the CIRSE members lounge at the annual meeting

CIRSE provide the EBIR The European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) a voluntary supplemental examination designed to evaluate interventional radiologists on the clinical and technical knowledge necessary to carry out safe and effective treatments for patients. Although the EBIR certification does not replace any national training or licensing, it does help IRs certify their expertise and demonstrate their ongoing commitment to pursuing a career in this rapidly evolving discipline.

Why take the EBIR?

Sitting the EBIR exam can have a hugely beneficial effect on career development, whether the examination is taken right at the beginning of a tenure or further down the road. Employers can expect not only firm knowledge of the contents of the European Curriculum and Syllabus for Interventional Radiology, which serves as the comprehensive guideline for the exam, but also certain skill sets and additional valuable competencies confirmed by trainers or supervisors.
