The motion was passed, as follows –

  • The NSW government to Increase awareness and education of Adenomyosis
  • The Federal government to approve funding, through Medicare, to cover the out-of-pocket expense of having an MRI to diagnose Adenomyosis.

This is an excellent outcome for patients who suffer with Adenomyosis as it will allow more accurate diagnosis of the condition. Adenomyosis can be treated effectively by interventional radiologists with a minimally invasive image guided embolisation (Uterine Artery Embolisation or UAE), allowing patients to obtain symptom relief while  preserving their uterus.

To find an interventional radiologist in your area who offers treatment for uterine conditions such as adenomyosis or fibroids, consult the doctor finder section of the IRSA website  https://irsa.com.au/about-us/find-a-doctor
